Xiaomi Redmi A2 Lineup to be Unveiled Soon; Two New Models Certified by BIS and TKDN

Redmi A1 and A1 Plus are descendants of a new catalog that debuted last year. Natural to market routine, the Redmi A roster is prepping for expansion. Two successive models, Xiaomi Redmi A2 Plus and A2, seem imminent for launch. The chain is apace doing certification runs for both models. Here's everything we've gathered on the series.

Initially spotted by tipster Mukul Sharma, the new Redmi A2 series surfaces in certification listings on BIS and Indonesian TKDN websites. They did not reveal anything noteworthy in their databases, but they did mark Xiaomi's intention to unveil devices soon. A2 and A2 Plus should go official before April.

BIS and TKDN are initial sightings of the lineup, and it isn't receiving any attention from the media, so there's little to know about specs. The duo's specs shouldn't differ much from their predecessors since they come from an entry-level budget catalog.

To recall, Redmi A1 Plus houses MediaTek's Helio A22 SoC and 6.52-inch IPS HD+ screen. Under the hood lies a 3GB + 32GB memory board powered by a 5000mAh cell and 10W charging speed. In optics, it has an 8 + 0.08MP config on the back and a 5MP selfie shooter on the forehead. A fingerprint ID rests on the back of this latest A Xiaomi mobile.

Standard Redmi A1 brings an almost similar feature set, but it isn't carrying a back-mounted fingerprint reader. Both models bear micro USB ports, 3.5mm Audio jacks, leather-back designs, and ~192-gram frames. Powered by Android 12 Lite "Go edition," Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus and A1 ship in Light Green, Light Blue, and Black colorways. The heirs, A2 and A2 Plus, build upon these specs and will likely reinforce specs and costs.
