After numerous leaks rumors, Xiaomi has finally made the Mi Mix Alpha concept official. At an event held at its homeland, the Chinese giant confirmed that the new concept smartphone will hit the market with some unseen next-gen features and a totally different display concept when it comes to the screen.

Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha, a device that'll make you forget everything you have seen so far on a smartphone. The game is clearly taken to another level with this device.

The Mi MIX Alpha is equipped with a “surround display” that swivels over the sides from the front. At the back, the OLED screen is cut off by a line featuring the phone's camera system. The so-called surround screen has full pressure-sensitive volume buttons on the sides and a screen to body ratio of 180%.

They are using an already released 108-megapixel camera sensor here, developed by Xiaomi in collaboration with Samsung. The other two shooters in the triple camera setup include a 20 megapixels 117-degree ultra-wide-angle lens and then another 12-megapixel optical zoom sensor. With the screen on the rear, the same triple cameras are also available for selfies.

The Mi MIX Alpha also comes equipped with the latest 5G connectivity. According to Xiaomi, it utilizes artificial intelligence and special sensors to reduce accidental contact on the sides of the phone's pressure sensors. The advanced vibration engine also provides a physical touch for the virtual volume buttons on the side. In use, the phone can detect its position and thus switch on the display only from the side in use.

The Sound is transmitted acoustically through the display, and an ultrasonic proximity sensor is also located underneath the screen. Mi MIX Alpha's body is made of titanium alloy while the phone also features ceramic details on the back strap and sapphire crystal glass to protect the cameras.

Other features of the phone include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ system chipset, 12 gigabytes of RAM, 512 gigabytes of high-speed UFS 3.0 storage, a 4,050 milliampere battery, and 40 watts of fast charging.

The Mi MIX Alpha will go on on sale soon and Xiaomi aims to start production later this year. A thing to note here is that since its a "concept smartphone", its production will be on a smaller scale. Even so, if you're one of those who are wondering what this device cost, the advertised price is RMB 19999. We are talking about 450,000 Pak rupees here, which is the announced price for China. In countries like Pakistan and India, we also have to rely on market-based inflation and government taxes.

This is an undeniably beautiful and attractive device and it is impossible to just look at it and remain indifferent. However, one must bear in mind that it appears to be quite a fragile device with not such a long-lasting battery that we are normally used to of. The price is certainly out of reach for an average consumer but this is a smartphone for enthusiasts willing to pay to prove the future of technology.
