Xiaomi 12 Series to Launch Globally in the Coming Weeks; Smaller Form Factors and 120W Charging

The Xiaomi 12 series dropped in China last week. It’s the latest generation of flagship phones from the brand. For now, it’s exclusive to China. But reports coming from Twitter predict the global launch timeline of the Xiaomi 12 series.

Xiaomi 12 line features the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Folks over at MySmartPrice managed to dig up a tentative release timeframe for these three phones. Reportedly, the flagships are going international either by the end of February or early March this year. The timeline puts Xiaomi 12 in direct competition with upcoming flagships from Samsung, OnePlus, and Oppo.

With Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi is re-introducing the small form factor. The only mainstream compact phones are Apple’s iPhone Mini editions in recent years. But 2022 could be the year when smaller Android phones make a comeback.

Both Xiaomi flagship new model phones 12 and 12X rock ergonomic 6.28” screens (comparable to the size of a modern iPhone but even narrower in width.) It’s a 1080P AMOLED screen that peaks at 120Hz in refresh rate. The Pro has an even more stunning display — a 6.73” Samsung-made LTPO panel. It delivers a QHD+ 2K resolution and a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate.

All three phones are built on the same design and come in black, blue, and lavender finishes. In addition, the Pro model sports a mint faux leather finish.

Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powering them. Xiaomi 12X falls on the more budget-focused end, featuring the Snapdragon 870. The Pro is the first Xiaomi phone to support cutting-edge 120W charging. And the other two models adopt 67W tech.
