Vivo Y500s Goes Official with 7200mAh Battery, IP69 Rating, and More

Vivo Y500s sticks to the entry-level recipe, but upgrades the network support to 5G. It actually uses the same Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip as the Vivo Y6t that recently came out. They’ve unveiled the Y500s with a 7200mAh battery and an IP69 rating. These are all the details we found on the official listing.

The base storage and RAM are not too shabby for the price. There’s 8GB RAM here. The storage is 256GB, and it’s a fast UFS 3.1 module. That’s always a nice feature to have. The chipset is more or less an entry-level performer with a 2.2 GHz CPU and Adreno 613 GPU.

It may not be the fastest device, but it’s certainly the most durable. The official safety rating given to the Vivo latest S mobile is IP69. That means it’s completely waterproof and dustproof. There’s Origin OS 6 here, so the underlying system is Android 16. The storage goes all the way up to 512GB, by the way.

The newcomer is right up there with one of the big battery flagship contenders. They’ve installed a 7,200 mAh cell on it. So you are looking at two days’ worth of juice with light use. This battery will recharge over a 44W input (11V 4A). They call it the Blue Ocean power pack.

It is rated for 1600 cycles, which is generally good for at least 6 years of battery life. The screen is not half bad, looks-wise. But this is exactly where they cut corners. The panel is a 6.75” IPS LCD, and its resolution is only HD+ 720p. The punch hole is hiding an 8MP selfie unit.

The Y6 phones had the worst rear cameras. But the Y500s is pretty decent in that regard, with a 50MP main unit and a notification indicator. The second lens is assistive. There’s no fingerprint ID on the screen. But we do have one on the side.

You can crank the screen’s brightness to 1200nits and the volume to 400% (boost). And yes, dual speakers are present on this handset. The starting price for this Vivo Y500s is CNY 1,800 (~PKR 73,000) for the 8/256GB trim. The cost will jump to CNY 2,200 (~PKR 90,000) for the 8/512GB version.
