Tecno Pova Slim 5G Launching on September 4, Teased as World’s Thinnest Phone

Tecno launched a concept phone back in March that was 5.75mm thin. The reports suggested it will never arrive in the consumer market. Little did we know, the company had plans to launch it with a different name all along. The distant cousin to Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ and a rival to Galaxy S25 Edge is back in the headlines, now under the title Tecno Pova Slim 5G

Tecno has officially teased “Pova Slim 5G” as the world’s thinnest phone, headed for a launch in just a few days. The ultra-thin model is marked for debut on September 4th, just a few days before the iPhone 17 release. The Pova Slim 5G will have a new rival to compete with soon, the iPhone 17 Air.

From what we’ve gathered, the Pova Slim is supposed to land in the 3D curve screen smartphone category, just like the Hot 60 Pro+. The latter just made a Guinness World Record for the industry’s thinnest curved-edge phone with a 5.95mm design.

If the Tecno Pova new model scored the same 5.75mm thickness as the old concept, Infinix’s celebrations for the world record will be cut short. Tecno might sweep that title from right under its feet. The news isn’t all that exciting, though, since both companies operate under the same corporation, Transsion Holdings.

The teaser didn’t have much to reveal about Tecno Pova Slim 5G. But the rumor mill speculates a 5200mAh battery on this device, towering over the Galaxy S25 Edge’s paltry 3900mAh cell. Even the iPhone 17 Air doesn’t stand a chance against it with the rumored sub-3000mAh capacity.

Other leaks on the web report a 6.78” OLED screen on the Pova Slim 5G. The refresh rate might be the same as Infinix’s record holder at 144Hz. The rear camera is supposedly a 50MP shooter, possibly joined by a secondary assistive lens and flash.

All signs point to the device being a name-swapped version of the Spark Slim concept. Since the teaser spree has already begun, it’s only a matter of time before they reveal the rest of its details. So keep watching the news for further updates.
