Tecno Pop 5X Quietly Debuts With Entry-level Specs and a Wallet-friendly Price

Tecno’s line of Pop phones features one of the cheapest phones from this brand. The series was recently refreshed with the Tecno Pop 5. And the manufacturer has now followed up on the phone with the entry-level Tecno Pop 5X. It was introduced in Mexico without much fanfare.

Before we get into the details, note that the Tecno Pop 5X is not a new phone, but a rebadged version of the iTel Vision 1 Pro (iTel is a sister sub-brand of Tecno, both owned by Transsion Holdings.) Here’s everything you need to know.

We’re looking at a 6.5” IPS LCD that delivers a 720P resolution and sports a drop notch. Turn the phone over to find a textured shell and an instant fingerprint scanner. Three lenses and an LED flash make a cluster inside a camera rectangle. You can pick from Crystal Blue and Cosmic Shine finishes.

Tecno phone prices are usually user-friendly and as the handset is an entry-level budget phone, the front camera has a 5MP sensor behind it. And the rear camera system features a modest 8MP shooter and two low-res sensors to pad the count. Since it’s a basic Android phone, the performance is of little concern to the manufacturer. Tecno Pop 5X has an obscure quad-core Unisoc chip at its heart.

Because of the underpowered chip, the phone can’t run full-fledged Android. Instead, Tecno ships the Pop 5X with Android 10 Go Edition — a trimmed version of the OS, designed for low-end hardware. Two gigs of memory, 32GB of storage, and a 4000 mAh battery round off the setup.
