A listing under the model number PDYM20 / PDYT20, reportedly belonging to the Oppo A72 5G has been found on TENNA telecom’s database. Once released, it’ll be yet another 5G-powered addition to Oppo’s A-series which already includes the Oppo A92s 5G. The leak further details that the Oppo A72 5G will be introduced in the Chinese market before July ends.

The Oppo A72 5G will use MediaTek’s first entry-level 5G chipset, the MT6853V, to stay high-tech yet under the reach at an affordable Oppo mobile price. Some speculate that this unreleased processor could either be titled Dimensity 700 or Dimensity 600.

A72 will cut corners in terms of performance but offer 5G connectivity all the same. Oppo will be pairing the SoC with three different memory options, 4GB/6GB/8GB and 128GB of native storage.

The images attached with the listing show a revised A72 5G design, presenting a duo-tone look: one flat and the other iridescent. It’ll be available in Simple Black, Oxygen Purple, and Neon Purple Shades. Nestled inside an oversized squircle housing will be a triple-camera setup and an LED flash. Out front, there’s a hole-punch cutout into the display, surrounded by medium-weight bezels.

You’re looking at an IPS LCD screen that stretches 6.5” corner to corner, delivering an FHD+ resolution. The Oppo A72 5G's operates at a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. The build itself is lightweight, measuring 7.9mm in thickness and weighing in at only 175g. The A72 5G is secured with a side-mounted thumbprint reader that lives on top of the power button.

The camera system features a modest 16MP main sensor, combined with an 8MP module (speculated to be an ultra-wide sensor) and a 2MP Oppo camera, likely meant for either portraits or closeups. The A72 internals are backed up by a 4,040 mAh battery, powered by 18W fast charge. Oppo will ship it with the latest version of ColorOS 7, and it’s priced at CNY 1,699 (40,000 PKR).
