WhatMobile had already reported back in September, the release of Infinix’s notch-toting budget series – the Hot 8 and Hot 8 Lite. At 16,999 PKR only, the budget-minded Hot 8 was a bargain but its performance fell a bit short, owing to its underwhelming 2 GB of RAM and a modest 32 GB of onboard storage. If you’re one of the customers willing to shell out a few extra bucks for beefier memory, you’re in luck because Infinix has just thrown out the Hot 8 4GB RAM variant.
Unveiled today, Infinix Hot 8 revamped variant comes with a respectable 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage. The performance would undeniably receive a boost, thanks to this upgraded hardware, but the phone carries over the rest of the specs and design language from its sibling.
You’re looking at an identical 6.52-inch IPS HD+ display, along with the impressive 90.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. Note that the Hot 8 chin remains heavier in comparison to the side-bezels. Upfront, you have a familiar water-drop notch and on the back, rests a triple-camera package in a vertical arrangement. Flanking this module is your standard rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
One look at the front, and you can tell that Infinix Hot 8 isn’t cheaply made (the so-called ‘mini’ notch is a good hint). The build feels solid and well-made, but the same cannot be said for the back panel, unfortunately. It showcases a rather dull and dated look made more apparent by its oddly placed branding and LED flash.
Under the hood, the Hot 8 4GB is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 (a feature typical of more recent affordable smartphones) and a massive 5,000 mAh battery (another feature common to many non-flagship devices). It runs on an XOS 5.0-based Android Pie (9.0) and offers dual 4G connectivity.
The new Infinix 8 also borrows the 13-megapixel main sensor from the base variant, as well as a pair of 2-megapixel depth sensors. Housed inside the compact notch is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter accompanied by an LED flash.
Infinix Hot 8 4GB model is amazingly priced at just 18,999 PKR with only a marginal increment over the standard variant and is now available nationwide across Pakistan. the handset is being offered in four different hues.
