Huawei P50 Featured in High-Quality Product Images; The World's First 1-inch Smartphone Camera Sensor

Yesterday, the renowned phone leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, better known as @Onleaks, gave us the early previews of the upcoming Huawei P50 Pro. Building on that leak, Mr. Hemmerstoffer has now published similar product images for the Huawei P50.

Before we get into the design, note that the report also covers the phone’s specifications. The standard Huawei P50 is made from a blend of metal and glass. This build is 8.3mm thick, thicker even with the 2.3mm camera bump sticking out its back.

The camera plate assumes an egg shape, bound in a chrome accent. The P50 will be available in at least one mirror-finished silver edition. Two giant lenses, resembling a stovetop, live in this housing.

Flip the P50 over to find a 6.3” flat screen with slim bezels. Last year’s wide pill-box hole is replaced with a single cutout. A fingerprint scanner lives underneath this panel. The build also includes an IR Blaster and dual stereo speaker setup. However, it's way too early to speculate on the upcoming Huawei mobile price.

As always, the Huawei P50 series is shaping up to take smartphone photography to the next level. We’ve heard rumors of Huawei employing ‘liquid lens’ technology in this P-series. While that remains up for speculation, @OnLeaks reports that the P50 will be the first phone to use a 1-inch camera sensor (possibly the Sony IMX800.)

Even if Huawei keeps losing sales, the camera innovations introduced in the P50 will create competition. Much like the Huawei P30 that first popularized the periscope-telephoto camera — a feature that has now become a staple for modern flagship cameras.
