Huawei P40 Pro Captured in Live Images Just Weeks Ahead of the Official Launch: Unveiling on March 26

The popular tech publication, Digital Trends, has just published the first set of hands-on live shots of the upcoming Huawei P40 Pro. Granted, the unit captured in the images is an early prototype, but it’s an excellent reference for the flagship’s design. The P40 family isn’t scheduled to go official for another month, however, thanks to the never-ending slew of leaks, we already have a relatively decent idea of what to expect from the new 2020 flagship in terms of Huawei prices, specs & features.

The markings on the blue-hued P40 Pro prototype read Polarie and Blink, as opposed to the usual Huawei and Leica branding, suggesting that they’re codenames, says Digital Trends. The build appears to feature a glass rear-shell with almost chamfered but smooth edges.

The glass body of Huawei P40 Pro blends into a metal border, while also seamlessly melting into the bottom of the build. The edges aren’t as pronounced as they were in last year’s Mate 30, which should make for a more ergonomic and comfortable grip. There’s no external fingerprint reader to be seen, so we expect an in-display module to serve that purpose.

A vertically-stacked triple camera setup protrudes out the rear-facing panel. As per previous rumors, it houses a periscope lens of 8-megapixel resolution, a 52-megapixel primary lens, and a 40-megapixel camera, likely to be an ultra-wide module. A ToF sensor, microphone, and LED flank the triple camera setup as well. If you extrapolate from the camera package on the P40 Pro, Digital Trends reports that the P40 Premium Edition will support 10X optical zoom delivered by a Penta-camera.

The hands-on shots of Huawei P40 don’t showcase the front panel of the device, but the source points to a curved display, with a dual-punch-hole fixed into it. The bezels are next-to-nonexistent, which translates into a higher screen-to-body ratio.  The renders have portrayed White and Black color options, and with this brand-new Blue edition, the P40 will debut in at least three hues.

The flagship series is to be powered by a Kirin 990 chipset, which means it’ll be equipped with 5G connectivity. Since the MWC 2020 was canceled, Huawei has pushed back the launch date to March 26. No word on the costings yet but the Pro variant is expected to carry a Huawei price tag of anywhere between 160,000 to 180,000 Pakistani rupees.
